Careerum Social Platform

The Careerum Social Platform bridges career education, coaching, and networking to empower professionals worldwide. With users across 28 countries and over 400 job offers facilitated by the platform, Careerum has become a key player in career development. I was entrusted to lead the redesign of this platform, addressing critical usability issues and creating a modern, intuitive user experience.

My Role

I took full ownership of the project, leading the entire design process from research to delivery. My responsibilities included:

• Conducting a comprehensive interface audit.
• Designing solutions to address identified usability challenges.
• Collaborating with developers and the product manager to ensure seamless implementation.
• Prioritizing features based on user feedback and business needs.

Research & Insights

To understand the platform’s pain points and gather actionable insights, I:

• Conducted 14 user interviews and usability testing on the old platform.
• Identified 43 usability issues, including navigation inefficiencies, feature discoverability challenges, and inconsistent interface elements.

• Main Screen: Users can view popular posts with high engagement, save posts to favorites, and see the full list of users who interacted with posts.

  

• Onboarding: A user-friendly onboarding process was developed, tailored to feedback and designed to familiarize users with platform features seamlessly.

  

• Authorization: Simplified login processes with added functionality, such as a password reset option, improving user access and security.

  

• Chat: Enhanced chat functionality, including the ability to remove participants, make video calls, and streamline communication.

  

• Groups & Networking: Users can join communities and connect with other professionals to expand their network.

  

• Profile & Settings: Flexible notification settings and the option for a locked profile state were introduced for improved user control.

  

• UI Kit Development: Designed a responsive, state-aware UI Kit that ensures scalability and consistency across the platform.

Reflection

Redesigning the Careerum Social Platform was a rewarding opportunity to create a product that genuinely impacted users’ professional growth. This project reinforced the importance of thorough research and user-centric design in addressing critical pain points. By focusing on scalable solutions, I ensured the platform was not only efficient for users today but also adaptable for future needs. Moving forward, I’d explore incorporating AI-driven recommendations to further personalize user experiences and enhance engagement.
